After completing your cutting and engraving job, follow these steps to inspect the results, perform any needed touch-ups, clean up debris, and safely shut down the BOSS LS‑2440.
⚠️ CAUTION
Before you move your job, gently check that cuts that are supposed to cut all the way through your material have in fact cut all the way through your material. If you move your project, you'll not be able to get it registered again. If you close the lid and run the cut again, you can save the project.
Inspect the Finished Job
Open the lid carefully and use the viewing window to examine cuts and etches.
Check that all cut lines have passed through the material completely.
Inspect etched areas for clarity, depth, and consistent fill.
Note any incomplete cuts or under‑etched sections.
Run Additional Passes if Needed
In LightBurn, disable all layers except the cut layer(s).
Increase the number of passes in the Cut Settings Editor or adjust speed/power slightly.
Frame the laser to your part to confirm alignment.
Run the job again to finish the cut-through areas.
Remove Material & Clean Up
Carefully remove your project from the work bed.
Brush any debris down into the collection drawer.
Check the air assist nozzle and clean if clogged.
Safe Shutdown Procedure
Close any open LightBurn projects and sleep the control computer.
Turn off the laser cutter’s main power switch; wait for all motors and fans to stop.
Switch off the air assist compressor.
Power down the chiller unit.
Turn off the ventilation (exhaust) fan.
Maintaining a clean workspace and following proper shutdown steps ensures safety, prolongs equipment life, and prepares you for your next laser project.
